Question: Which dummies book to help with building a bulletin board in php etc?

If you're not familiar with either PHP/MySQL or HTML/CSS, then I'd get both books... because you're going to need all of the above to build something like what you're describing. HTML 4 For Dummies is also very good. I'm not familiar with the "all in one" desk reference editions, but I would suspect that they don't go into quite as much detail.

You might also want to take a look at Web Site Design Made Easy: Learn Html, Xhtml, and Css by Dennis Gaskill. It's a very good tutorial book, and the accompanying website has a lot of free clipart, tips, etc.

I would also explore php.net and mysql.com for actual in-depth documentation, and w3schools.com for HTML/CSS tutorials.
